How often should I Receive Body Work?

Results vary depending on the desires and needs of each person. At Soul Fire Massage & Wellness we create exclusive treatment plans for each patient or client to achieving the best healing results. Most often when trying any body work treatment you should see a licensed massage therapist 1-2 times per week for 4-6 weeks and then upon evaluation steadily reduce the treatment to once a week or every other week depending on the healing process of each individual.

What is a Traditional Chinese Fire Cupping?

At Soul Fire Massage & Wellness we love utilizing the element of fire! We love it because we use traditional Chinese fire cupping in our cupping massage treatments. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, fire cupping is said to improve Qi and blood flow. Qi or Chi in Chinese literally means "breath", "air" or "gas", however, it can also mean "energy" or "life force". According to modern medicine, the effects of blocked Qi and blood are analogous to what happens when someone injures themselves. Where there is pain or scar tissue there may be stagnant Qi or blood affecting the area. Fire cupping is good for treating pain because is moves out stagnant Qi and blood from the surrounding areas and move fresh oxygenated blood to an affected area. Fire cupping is also good at regulating organ function by helping bring fresh blood supply to the weakened organ. Fire cupping also activates the lymphatic system which is responsible for creating white blood cells which help attack pathogens such as viruses or bacteria and help flush it out of the body.

What is a Swedish/Deep Tissue Massage?

This style of massage is the most used with a light flowing touch intended to relax and help relieve tension in the body. Other movements involved are actions like percussion, kneading, vibration, tapping and rolling. Massage oil or lotion is used to protect the skin from friction. Deep tissue is a slower paced massage dedicated to going deeper into the muscle tissue to help break up adhesions (knots) and help with muscle pain and tension. Oil or lotion is used to protect the skin from friction however less than a Swedish massage as the goal is to create less glide on the body. Thai Massage is an ancient eastern modality of massage originating from Thailand. AKA "Lazy mans yoga" Thai massage is done fully clothed and utilizes deep compression, deep breath work, and moving the body in yoga positions or stretching positions.
